Looks like a good turn out. I really hated to miss this one, but I had a plumbing issue that needed to be taken care of. My 60 year old cast iron drain pipe decided they didn't want to work any longer. Spent Friday and Saturday replacing it. I should be at the Sam Houston trip in April though.

That was just a box mix from HEB. One box, one beer, a little squeeze butter on top and there you have it.

That shepherds pie was worth the 20 miles I had to hike to get it jeffro. It was greatly appreciated.

I made it home a few hours ago took a couple showers and am currently drying out all 3 of the tarps I used this trip. Turns out. I used every set up I have this time. My DIY canvas, BCUSA tarp and my newly acquired 12x12 Noah Tarp (thanks Scott, review to come).
To be honest I was worried about the hike, not sure how well I'd do. And when we made it to Walnut Creek (the halfway point) I nearly tapped out. Not because I was physically hurting (or the spider bite I received on the back of my neck) , just because I knew Jeffro was making some deliciousness back at Curmudgeon Camp. But I pressed on with my pack on my back and was exhausted by the time we made it to the trail head.
As always Jeffro's doin's were a sight for sore eyes, feet, legs, stomachs, etc. The bread and pies were stellar.
That next morning (Sunday) after being awoke by fatwood burning, breakfast was being cooked in every direction so I decided to add my stuff in the mix. A whole bunch of bacon, eggs, Hawaiian bread and tortillas later everyone had eaten and was packing up to get out of there.
Jdeering and I stayed an extra night with KanonaKyle and his cousin. With some of the unused food we had I ended up making a delicious sausage stew supper with some cheddar sausage from Buc-ee's, bratwurst, carrots, potatoes, garlic, onions, salt, pepper, cayenne, chili powder, some rice to go along with it and even ended it all with some Oreo's.
KanonaKyle had stashed his guitar away waiting for the perfect opportunity to whip it out and we took turns playing and singing a few songs (kid's got a voice on him). Curls were made, knives were discussed, bushes were crafted.
Thanks to everyone who came out. Especially saustin1967 for doing all the puttin' togetherin' and jeffro for the eatin's, Whiskey1 for the ointment.
You guys are awesome and the reason why I made this forum!

Here are the few pictures I did take on the trail. Not too many as I wasn't very focused on documenting it. Just enjoying it.

I for one had a blast man. My wife has always been worried about my midlife crisis consisting of a sports car and a younger woman. I hate to disappoint her but I'm pretty sure it's just going to be getting into the wilderness and making stuff out of wood and rocks.…and maybe buying a couple handmade implements in the process.

Looking forward to the next one I can make.
