Sam Houston NF/LSHT this weekend 1-5-18

Howdy do folks,
I met some of yall on the 4C hike last year, and again in San Saba (not the recent big one, before that) anyway decided to quit lurking and join so I could invite anyone who wants to come this weekend. Yea it's kinda short notice and deer season is still open but I have to get out come hell or high water.

General
1/5 (Evening start) to 1/7
Hike in camp, not car camping
For general driving directions use Richards, Tx

Details;
- First, All details are negotiable, if you're interested we can probably work out the logistics even if you just want to go a couple miles and meet at camp. I have hiked all of these one time or another am familiar with the area if you want to know where to stage a vehicle or something part way.
- My plan is to hike a loop connecting a few trails to the Lone Star trail beginning on Forest Road 219 1/4 mile South of FM149
- Roughly 30 miles if you do the whole thing, there are lots of opportunities to shorten it up, also a few road crossings if you want to join late or bail early.
- I plan on starting after work Friday, probably around 3pm and come out sometime Sunday afternoon.
- No burn ban :!:
- Plenty of places to get creek water from the recent rains, treat it how you wish, no need to carry a bunch.
- Camp anywhere you want along the trail (for the most part) There are endless places to set up, hanging or ground. If your a tent guy bring a ground tarp, everything will still be soggy I'm sure.
- It is the last weekend of regular gun season here, that doesn't really change anything unless you still have an open tag, just giving a heads up because I see it discussed a lot.

Anyone interested let me know, I'll send you my contact info.

Regards,
Woody (Mark)

Portions of the Lone Star Hiking Trail remain closed east of Stubblefield CG
LSHT Drought Index : 1 as of December 30, 2017

I think ya'll will be okay if the deer hunters have been drinking responsibly. Have fun.
