Howdy All!

Hey everyone!
I've been an instructor here in Austin at a nature immersion camp for younger kiddos for the last 10 years. There's so much awesome history and new techniques to rediscover older and newer ways of approaching our interaction with our enviroment. I look forward to learning from all of you and hearing about your own experiments! Each summer I live out in the woods primitive camping for a couple months; about to leave in a couple days. (the rest of the year I'm a full-time illustrator/bartender)
This year's project for me:
-try to stick to only 5 tool load out
-managed with flint and steel; want to tackle a bow drill. going in less than 3 minutes
-if I have opportunity to, (hot climate means a potential burn ban in effect) harvest raw clay, process and create a kiln to fire greenware with an ash glaze (charcoal mound needed)
-employ new wood-crafting techniques.
-clean/field dress small game (squirrel specifically) caught with primitive snares, process tallow (if enough), keep sinew, make a bone fishing-hook
-make pine tar resin (ash-junper)
-improve my weaving techniques (good enough for a double-siv; yucca-cordage)
stretch goals;
-longer term hunting trip in the fall?
-hide tanning?
-find iron ore on site?
-harvest/process prickle pear again

If any of you have any questions, feel free to ask (if you don't mind me asking a couple in turn) and I'll do my best to answer! :]

Any tips on how to stay cool in the summer heat? I usually hit a watering hole/swimming spot, but not always convenient.
