DIY Whelen lean-to

Over on BCUSA I saw Seeker's DIY Whelen lean-to build thread: https://bushcraftusa.com/forum/threads/whelen-lean-to-build-along.136777/ And so I had to make one myself! Welcome TXhillbilly, nice to meet you! I was caught up in the city life for about 6 years, but it was always a way to get where I wanted to be.

Re: Canvas Tarp Project *formally "Tarp Materials"

I enjoyed how he put the info together, with quotes, and his ideas of what and how. Like you, I saw the sizes, and said the same thing! I've read a few of the passages, about weight of materials, and wondered what they used. Even un-coated, the differences between 10 oz and 8 oz canvas is pretty not...

Re: Canvas Tarp Project *formally "Tarp Materials"

Wanted to point out this blog post I read today, mostly one guy's thoughts about classic camping and some of the gear they may have used.

And another we saw was a purple gray husk surrounding a jelly substance with what looked like a brain inside the jelly. Certainly weird stuff!
