Thanks for reminding me about this thread. I have thought of one observation, Whelen talks about a plastic tarp and a poncho, where I only have a poncho. And needles and thread.

I'll have to re-weigh after I figure out which tarp I settle on, for this year it's a Forester tent.

I've been using a 32oz gatorade bottle. They pair nicely with the GSI/Walmart cup, the price is just about $1, and they last for quite a while. Sure, not metal, but who wants a boiled drink for the next few months anyway?
