Absolutely brilliant !!
I did this all over the Dallas area for a couple of months when I had time practicing and this method is highly effective. It reminds me of a similar military land-nav system.

Bud, you definitely got lucky. I have seen many snakebites in my time in the ER, and you're exactly right on the price and hassle of anti-venom. Most snakebites never get to that point.
