I use soap on mine all the time with no ill effects. Wash rinse heat and oil.

I just scrub them out with a Chore Boy scrubber, heat it to drive out the moisture then rub it down with hog lard. Be sure to heat your skillet up before you use it to sterilize it before cooking. Almost forgot,I don't use soap as I don't want soap to seep into the pores of my cast iron. An after dinner trip to relive oneself, smoke and contemplate the meaning of life is a good thing, getting a dose of the scours is not.
