Went out back to try out my Esbit one morning. Took some pics. Coffee and oatmeal.

I think if used in the right way the esbit is very capable. Your not going to cook a 5 coarse mail on it but for this small day kit it worked beautifully. The tab lasted just long enough to bring 2 cups of water to a hard boil. I like it.
