Collapsible wood stove on a budget

Penny stove, hobo stove, canteen cup. What do you use to disinfect water and cook food? Discuss.

Just a word of caution on this. Tie plates are galvanized. And burning galvanized material is a bad idea. I'm not sure how it would handle if you burned all the costing off but it's not something is will mess with.

Yeah that was addressed in the link. Also if you soak the galv in vinegar for about 24 hrs it will remove the galv. I probably will not use the nail plates, probably go with something lighter.

I made a fairly decent stove out of a tin can. Ive used it several times and it has done just fine. It just turns everything in my pack black. If I wanted to heat up a cup of water I can stick a tent stake through it.

Slap a little tin foil around that sucker or find/make a little bag that will hold both your stove and bottle. Should be enough room to make a foil liner so your bottle won't get black either. Just a thought.
