Best Pack for a Big Guy??

Post by TxFatPacker » Fri Aug 16, 2019 10:15 am

Hello all, I'm trying to find some good options for internal/external frame backpacks for big guys. I'm about 5'10, and 330lbs, and a ton of packs I've tried cut off circulation in my arms, won't fit my shoulders or waist, and are extremely uncomfortable. I typically carry 35-40lbs, with my tools, tarps, hammock, etc...

If there are any big guys in the group, any insight would be awesome.

I am also ok with modifying a pack, if that will yield better results.

Thx

Following.
I have a similar problem. I'm 6'3, 300lbs. No packs fit me right but the US ARMY Molle II Assault Pack with the external frame.
I've taken it on many miles including a 4C through hike few years back. No major issues.
I also have a Frost River Isle Royal that can but very uncomfortable if I load it down too much.
Good luck and keep us posted if you find something, I'd love to find a better suited pack.

Will do. I've looked at the Molle Ruck System, but I was trying to avoid going that big. Do you think it would be easy to lash a different pack to the frame?

Definitely. There are tons of lashing points.
