Ammo

Post by Andre Crawford » Wed Jun 12, 2013 8:44 pm

Anyone got a line on ammo?

Walmart is basically out of stock all the time.
Academy if you show up an hour before the doors open, on MON/WED/Fri you might get lucky enough to find some when you get to the front of the line.
J/T sports in Copperas Cove has ammo, but not what I need.
Guns Galore has ammo but not what I am looking for (I did find 2 boxes of .22 subsonic there a couple weeks ago but the guy said it was all he had, and did not know when he would get more)

Its still really hard to find the stuff I need.

.22 30-30 and 40 S&W

With all the media coverage about guns and proposed gun laws, etc., everyone is buying it up like crazy especially the zombie apocalypse crowd and panic-stricken preppers. If you can find it, you better buy what you can now cuz it may become impossible to get later on. I think the harder it is to get, the more people will buy. Might just be a ruse to sell more ammo but judging from the widespread shortage I would think not.

Having talked with some of the reps at the NRA meeting in Houston they are saying they need 30 - 45 days of people not buying out the shipments and the stores would be restocked. The problem is everyone sees empty shelves and buys it all which leads to more panic the problem is keeping itself going now.

Guns Galore has .22 instock and a running supply of it..... He would not tell me where. Boxes of 50 Winchester. 2boxes per customer per day.

He indicated that the supply is starting to stabilize.

I haven't bought ammo in quite awhile. Not because I'm stocked up but because I'm poor and don't really shoot often. Plus I live in the city with kids. My guns are at a friends house in the country.
Anyway, have the prices gone up much? I have a few .22s and would like to get some ammo for them.

Price has gone up, but not really bad.

I actually found .22 today at two different shops. 3.19 for 50 Winchester High velocity at guns galore, and 2.19 for 50 Federal at academy. So maybe the ammo shortage is starting to swing back.

I have to repeat a joke here that was posted on BushcraftUSA.

"I recently found a secret source for ammo and loaded up on a couple of cases each of .22LR, 9mm, .40 and .45. I was taking it home when I pulled into a gas station and across the island there was a beautiful blonde filling her tank. She saw the cases in the back of my truck and said, 'I believe in the barter system, big boy. Would you be willing to trade sex for ammo?' I thought about it for a second and said, 'What kind of ammo do you have?'
