Evening My Brother!

Yes, Service was probably the last of the true oral tradition poets. That tradition was murdered in the late 40's and 50's by a new crowd. Only ones who carried on in that tradition were musicians.

Really looking forward to cooler weather. Just looked and now it's 7:25. PM and cooled down to 100F.

Neat set ! I have Grandads old mess tin somewhere here, as well as the knife, fork and spoon. Also have one 1918 dated canteen he brought back. Had another one he let me use as a kid, it got stolen at YMCA day camp. Still hate thinking about that.

Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without !- Grandad's advice

Thanks G1! Lots of this stuff was surplused to the Boy Scouts and the CCC. Matter of fact the knife in photo is marked CCC. One reason doughboys and 1920's era Boy Scouts look so much alike is the scouts were in surplused uniforms! Free from Uncle Sam!

Here's a cool pic from 1916! Brownsville Texas. These troops are preparing for punitive expedition duty. Check out equipment!

That is awesome. Who makes that?
Go to www.capeforge.com and look at the mini-set. Not cheap but exquisitely made.
