Recommendation for repelling fire ants?

Post by NeckRed Gringo » Wed Oct 19, 2016 8:58 pm

Hey guys about to spend a night and about 2 days around a bunch of ants. Anyone know of a good repellent? Gonna be in a hammock but they are on the trees in the area aswell.

Raid camp fogger.
Nothing really gets rid of them. Best you can hope for is to control them a little.
Treat them like bears, No food close to where you sleep, seal all food in air tight containers, up off the ground.
avoid them when possible, what where you stand/sit.

Is this an actual fogger or like a spray?

It is a spray, but is sprays a wide stream and covers a lot of area.
use it to keep mosquitos away, it last several hours as long as the ground is not wet and wind is not to bad

Is mesquite wood poisonous? Like grilling hot dogs on. I have a tree I believe is mesquite and cut some logs off it this weekend

Mesquite makes right tasty grub. Some would rather use Mesquite than Hickory to BBQ over, my wife especially.
