I'm in Austin, Tx

Post by Squirrel_Master » Fri Nov 15, 2019 2:07 pm

Just wanted to shout out that I'm in Austin, Tx.

Anyone interested in hiking or primitive skills hit me up.

Theres not much to do around here except go hiking, or take primitive skills courses, which there is no shortage of. I hike about 15k a week minimum, working up to 30k, I do McKinney Falls several times a week as they have 2 different 5k paths, one is concrete and accessible year round, other one is dirt and sometimes not accessible due to a water crossing over the falls to get to that trail. I've hiked them maybe 15 times this month alone. I'm now transitioning into the Green Belt, I forget the proper name for it, its way better scenery and less complicated and pretty straight forward, its 5 miles in total but takes a bit longer due to terrain. I'm working up to completing that trail and back for a total of 10 miles.

Primitive skills courses in the area are Natureversity and Earthnative Wilderness School. Ive taken many classes from both, so if anyone wants to practice some flint knapping, or pine needle basket making, or do some animal tracking under some bridges, hit me up.

I'll take you up in the offer once January rolls by. I've been meaning to go mushroom hunting in that area for a while now.

Sounds like a plan! I have several quality books on Texas Mushrooms, Texas Cacti, and Wild Edibles of Texas, but havnt had any luck on mushrooms or anything outside of the Texas Prickly Pear Cactus.
